From the very, very fast to the ‘last but no means least’ – meet our Beat The Sunset winners

Our fastest event got even faster last month!

Beat the Sunset, our speedy 5km road race in Desborough, took place on Sunday, July 27 and saw Dominic Jones race home to take first place in a new course record.

The Cambridge & Colleridge AC athlete finished in a blistering 14 minutes and 52 seconds to smash the previous course best.

Dominic was joined by Lucas Mansell (Kettering Town Harriers) and Matthew Everett (Rugby & Northampton AC) on the podium – all pictured above in main image.

The women’s race was won by Ashleigh Walters, with Ellie Baverstock (Harborough AC) in second place and Justine Anthony (Charnwood AC) coming third.

For Beat The Sunset 2025, we added a couple of extra prizes – the Last But No means Least Trophies recognising the fantastic efforts of those at the back of the field who are equally important as those at the front!

Well done to Chris Ward, from Higham Harriers, who finished after supporting his wife Donna through the course and to the incredible Justine Robinson, who is always smiling at every event.

Thanks to all the runners who took part this year. Beat the Sunset is always one of our best supported events and we had a sell-out this time round which is fantastic.

We hope to see you all next year… but can anyone go faster than Dominic?
