As if those who got through the ballot for next year’s London Marathon weren’t lucky enough, one cheeky runner has demonstrated how they could take advantage of a few freebies to boot.
The 2026 event saw more than 1.1 million people enter the ballot, so it was quite the lottery win to even get a place.
And just I was dwelling on the good fortune of those who got in, I spotted this article about how their luck could continue after the finish line.
David Hellard, who didn’t even run the event in 2025, borrowed his wife’s medal to test out the theory that a London Marathon can – as he described it – snag you some swag.
He claims that in clocking up 40.8kms around the streets of London, he bagged 20 drinks, seven pizzas, a cookie and a burger, three bath bombs and a Greek salad.
