16 May Tour De Northamptonshire: Time to get back on your bike!
It’s time to get on your bike again!
Our Cyclosportive event, the Tour De Northamptonshire, is returning for 2025. This year’s race will take place on June 8 and we’d love to see you there.
Once again, we will be offering entrants the opportunity to race over three distances. The X ‘Tour of the Villages’ takes in 30 miles, The XL ‘Reservoirs & Aerodromes’ features 40 miles, and our XXL event will see riders tackle 60 miles.
Starting and finishing at Naseby Village Hall, this event is suitable for everyone – even though there are a few cheeky hills thrown in.
Each of our routes will take riders through picturesque Northamptonshire villages and countryside and featuring a well-stocked feed station at Great Cransley Village Hall where people can take advantage of a selection of tea, coffee, homemade cakes – or simply fill up their water bottles.
Our Tour of the Villages X (30 mile) route begins with a long descent past Cottesbrooke Hall and Gardens, before climbing into Brixworth and continuing through the villages of Walgrave, Broughton and Thorpe Malsor. Finally, there is a gradual climb back to Naseby passing by Harrington Air Base War Memorial and Kelmarsh Hall.
The Reservoirs & Aerodromes XL (40 mile) route also begins with a short descent out of Naseby before climbing up to Cold Ashby. Entrants will then ride past Hollowell Reservoir and cross Ravensthorpe Reservoir before continuing along the undulating route into Brixworth. There is then a welcome descent to Pitsford Reservoir causeway. Sywell village and the aerodrome are next up, before the first aid station at 18 miles. Then, it’s back towards Sywell Reservoir and on to the next feed station at Great Cransley Village Hall. The final push back to Naseby will take our cyclists past Cransley Reservoir, Harrington Aerodrome and War Memorial, and Kelmarsh Hall.
Or you could take on our Reservoirs & Aerodromes XXL (60 mile). This route follows the XL route to Cold Ashby but stretches out to Yelvertoft and West Haddon before heading back to Hollowell and Ravensthorpe Reservoirs.
Participants will cross the causeway of Pitsford Reservoir and head to Sywell Village, past the aerodrome and to the first feed station after 26 miles. The route then takes in a loop around Sywell Reservoir before heading up to Broughton village via Orlingbury. Our cyclists will then reach the final feed station at Great Cransley (39 miles), before heading out to Thorpe Malsor, passing Cransley Reservoir and going onwards to Harrington Aerodrome and the War Memorial. The 60 mile route continues to Braybrooke, close to the River Jordan, before heading back south to Arthingworth, Kelmarsh and into Naseby to the finish.
