Many of you will have previously experienced the mud and mayhem of our popular Dirt Run, but now can you take on twice the mire!
Next year, we will be extending the Irchester Country Park-based Dirt Run to a second venue at Brigstock Country Park as part of a long-term vision to eventually create a Go Beyond Dirt Run series.
If you haven’t taken part in it before, the original Dirt Run is a multi-terrain race, with a choice of three distances: five, 10 or 15km. It is run either uphill or downhill each year, bringing a different challenge every time to runners taking part.
The Irchester Dirt Run, due to return on January 19, takes part in the stunning surroundings of the country park, and combines fun and distances for all levels with the test of taking on the muddy conditions a winter trail event brings. When we sent our PR man, Craig Lewis, to take it on earlier this year the following paragraph neatly encapsulated the race:
“The very muddy hell of the Dirt Run is what makes it so great. You have no choice but to laugh and smile as you trot along. Yes, the joy of physical challenge is there, but so is that of getting out in the countryside, and of being with like-minded lunatics, and of running like a child straight through the biggest puddle because you can.
With reviews like that we couldn’t resist adding a second Dirt Run to our race roster – and so, the Brigstock Dirt Run has been born.
Planned for February 23 next year, the event will take place at Brigstock Country Park in Lyveden New Bield, near Oundle, over 7.5km and 15km. The race route will follow the Lyveden Way national trail, with runners treated to a stunning glimpse of the captivating Elizabethan Lodge, Lyveden New Bield, nestled in the midst of some beautiful Northamptonshire countryside.
Surrounded by incredible gardens, wildflower meadows and tranquil water features, Lyvden combines history and serene, timeless beauty. The runners will experience an enchanting landscape, with sweeping views that showcase this hidden gem in all its glory.
Why limit yourself to one dirt run, when you can have twice the muddy fun?
