Something completely different – How ‘Going Round in Circles’ is the race you didn’t know you needed

In the words of Monty Python, ‘And now for something completely different!’.

At the end of March, we’ll be holding a race that has no official start time, no official route, and no checkpoints.

Just call me Lazarus Lake!

The good news is our Going Round in Circles event is based in London rather than the depths of Tennessee, and can be broken up into manageable chunks.

The aim of ‘Going Round in Circles – the London Circle Line Challenge’ is to run between every underground station on the Circle Line (the yellow one!) – all 27 of them.

Entrants can take part as a team of two, or individually if they fancy a bigger challenge. They will set off from our Paddington-based start line and can head either anti-clockwise or clockwise round the Circle Line, collecting a selfie – as proof – at each station.

If you are in a team of two, one runner will go to the Tube Station, grab a daily travel card and travel to your next meeting point on the Circle Line, while the other will run to meet you there. It’s then time to swap the tracker for the travel card and agree your next meeting point.

You’ll be given a tracker so we can see where you are, and your friends and family can follow your progress around the course.

The distance between stations varies from 0.2 miles to 1.2 miles, with the overall route being around 16 miles. There are no checkpoints but plenty of shops! If you are injured or have had enough then you can grab the tube back to the start.

Going Round in Circles will take place on Sunday, March 22, starting at the lovely Gail’s Bakery at Canalside in Paddington.

There will be a special circle line challenge medal for all finishers and the chance to grab a cake and a coffee as we finish back at the bakery.

Sounds like the ‘bright side of life’ to me!
