Shires & Spires has something for everyone – Enter NOW!

Think running isn’t for you – think again!

We believe this sport is for EVERYONE – just take the example of the amazing Simon Richards, a blind runner who completed a marathon untethered at our Shires & Spires event last year…

We pride ourselves on being inclusive, and we have a series of different races people can take part in, from 5ks to ultra marathons – and even our multi-day race through Nepal.

And, of course, Shires & Spires 2025 is fast approaching. The event features a mixture of trails and roads over 10k (roads), half-marathon, three-quarter marathon, marathon and ultra marathon distances.

Offering spectacular views of the Northamptonshire countryside and boasting a base at one of the most significant sites in British history, there’s a lot to get excited about.

Taking place on Sunday, May 11, we will be creating a real festival atmosphere, where people can sit and relax while watching their loved ones and friends take on their personal challenges – and there are plenty of those on offer.

The event is headlined by our Shires & Spires Ultra Marathon, a 35-mile circular event that starts and finishes at Naseby Village Hall, nestled at the heart of the quaint village of the same name that was made famous as the home of the Battle of Naseby in 1645, a major battle during the English Civil War.

But it is so much more than that, with our five separate races giving runners a wide variety of options.

Naseby is a fantastic central location, with easy access to the A14, M1 and M6. From there, runners will race across the Northamptonshire countryside, with the multi-terrain marathon and ultra taking them past a host of country houses. Expect to see Holdenby House, Cottesbrooke, and Althorp – the home of the Spencer family and final resting place of Princess Diana.

The 10k, half-marathon, three-quarter marathon and marathon provide a break from the usual road races these distances often favour, their changing terrain bringing new and different challenges.

Time is ticking down towards this fantastic festival of running, but there still more than enough left for you to enter. We think you CAN do it… now it’s your turn to BELIEVE.

And if you represent a running club in the county, or beyond, we’d love to see you – we have pitches available for you to come and tell everyone about your club. Get in touch at admin@gobeyondchallenge.co.uk
